ADVANCED craft joinery students at Angus College recently got the opportunity to visit the new development at Abbey Grange, Arbroath.
Homebuilding specialists Taylor Wimpey, who are developing the site, welcomed the group of 13 students to have a look around the ongoing development of the project.
Site manager Graeme Spence provided the students with a tour of the development and gave an insight into the workings of a large scale construction site. The students were able to see at first hand the construction methods being used as well as health and safety requirements being fulfilled.
Site visits such as this provide valuable experience for young apprentices who will be a possible future workforce for construction companies. Once completed the Abbey Grange development will feature a range of new three-bedroom semi-detached and three and four bedroom detached family homes.
Angus College construction lecturer Jim Low said: “We are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for providing the opportunity to visit the Abbey Grange site. For our students it is a fantastic experience to see a site which is run to the highest of standards.
“We encourage all our students to work towards these high standards and use will use Taylor Wimpey as a best practice example.”
