CONSTRUCTION students from Angus College this week added the finishing touches to six weeks of hard work on a stage set commissioned by Arbroath Musical Society.
They moved the large piece of staging from their construction workshop to the Webster Theatre where it is now being used in the production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.
The project saw the students gain experience in the construction of a complicated set of stairs complete with sliding compartments and a cross for the crucifixion scene. The group worked hard to complete the staging in time for the show which opened on Tuesday and runs until tomorrow (Saturday).
It is hoped that after the show the musical society will be able to make use of the staging in future productions.
Angus College construction tutor Steve Rennie said: “This has been a really great project for this group of students and it has helped them develop new skills, especially when it comes to team-working. It is great to be able to work with various community groups and it’s a valuable experience for our students.”
Those involved in the project include Jon Paul Keen, Aaron Kirkwood, Jack McAllan, Ben McIntosh, Jed Mitchell, Lewis Smith, Callum Strachan, John Taylor, Hayden Titmuss, Michael Walker and Kieran Whitton.
