An Arbroath-based cake enthusiast and blogger, Stuart Vettese, of ‘Cakey Boi’, is runner-up in a national ‘Royal Baby Cake’ competition.

Stuart (40), Keptie Street, has used his blog to bake his way to a prize in the competition organised by baking ingredients manufacturer, Renshaw.

When it was announced that the nation was expecting a new heir, it seemed only fitting that Renshaw, which holds a Royal Warrant for its almond products, would call Britain’s best cake bloggers to action to create a celebration cake fit for a royal baby.

Stuart was chosen out of a wealth of creative entries to come runner-up with his Union Jack inspired cake, topped with delicately modelled and appropriately coloured blue baby booties.

Stuart commented: “I am absolutely thrilled to have been recognised in the Renshaw Royal Baby Cake competition.

“There were some wonderful creations entered and it’s great to be involved in something that celebrates a part of British history.”
