An Arbroath primary school’s pupils have been recognised for their sterling efforts in respecting their environments.

Pupils at St Thomas RC Primary School received a Gold Award for their Pride in Place this morning (Friday)

Communities convener Councillor Donald Morrison said: β€œIt’s marvellous to see the pride that our latest recipients have demonstrated in their communities and the responsibility they have shown through their various initiatives. I would encourage any school, youth club or organisation to follow their example if they have not already done so.”

The PiP Recognition Scheme is a citizenship award for schools, school groups, youth clubs and organisations that acknowledges activities involving young people taking a pride in their local area.

Activities earn points that go towards a gold, silver or bronze award. Participants are encouraged to submit photos to highlight their work.

Activities cover a range of topics including – Tackling litter, recycling and waste management, outdoor learning, improving school grounds, contributing to community space, learning about community issues, and being involved with community people and business.

Any school, group or organisation interested in joining the scheme and making a difference to their community can contact the Communities team at
