A CONSULTATION is set to take place in Arbroath next month over the possibility of forming a community sports hub.
As part of the Scottish Government’s legacy plan for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Angus Council have appointed an officer, Jordann Cunningham to develop these hubs.
The local authority have pledged to help increase the number of people participating in sport in local areas and are keen for Arbroath to benefit.
Talks are already ongoing in Carnoustie as the idea of a community sports hub has been floated for a long time.
It is hoped the hubs can be based in places such as club pavilions, sport centres, community centres, the natural environment and schools and hope to bring local people together to provide a home for local clubs and sport organisations.
They will also provide information, support and advice on a wide range of sports and physical activities to make it easier for local people to get involved and engaged in more active and healthier lifestyles.
The meeting in Arbroath will take place on Monday, February 11 at Arbroath United Cricket Club at 7 p.m.
