Snow is not on the way – despite national newspaper claims.

The Daily Express reports today that a lengthy spell of extreme and potentially devastating winter weather is just around the corner, with blizzards, record-low temperatures and polar gales.

However, a Met Office spokesman said: “There won’t be any snow in Angus towns next week. There might be a light dusting over the higher ground, the glens, but that’s to expected at this time of the year.

“Next week will feel cold in comparison to the recent very mild weather and it will be colder come Tuesday or Wednesday, but certainly no apocalyptic weather.”

The spokesman questioned the reliability of national newspapers’ sources in weather stories.
