The recent fund-raising quiz organised by Arbroath Rotary Club was a tasty treat for all with nearly £1,000 realised on the night.
A total of £970 was raised last Wednesday in the Meadowbank Inn with winning team ‘Smokies and Neeps’ scoring an impressive 94 points out of a possible 110.
The brain trust comprised Norman and Wilma Reid and Moyra and Bob Carswell and beat off stiff opposition from ‘The Carswell Combo’ and ‘Taking Up The Rear’ with both teams scoring a respectable 78.
The victors returned their prize of £150 to the club, a move which was well received by the team and of course by the quiz organisers.
Mary Struthers, club international convener and quiz organiser, said: “Everyone had a great night and the winning team’s charitable gesture was much appreciated.
“All the proceeds from the event will be used to support a range of international charities.”
As part of their commitment to help worthy causes abroad Arbroath Rotary Club recently raised £1,800 and were able to send five ShelterBoxes to support the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan.
