Smokers urged to kick the habit at home

Smokers in the local area are being encouraged to stub out the habit at home as part of a new initiative.

The Smoke Free Homes scheme asks smokers to acknowledge the affect their habit has on others, such as children and even pets and encourages them to sign up to make their home smoke free.

The gold promise means you agree to no smoking in the house, while signing up to the silver status promises that smoking will be confined to one room in the house and never in front of children.

The smoking cessation team in NHS Tayside took part in a series of local events to inform people about the scheme.

They visited Ladyloan Primary School in Arbroath on Tuesday and the smoking cessation experts also spoke to members of the public at the Arbroath Access Office.

The fire service also attended the Smoke Free Homes events at primary schools in the local area.
