MEMBERS of local charity Showcase the Street will take to the stage of the Webster Memorial Theatre in Arbroath tomorrow (Saturday) to host their annual shows, with a matinee running at 2 p.m. followed by an evening show at 7.30 p.m.
Young people aged from three years to adults will dance their way through a number of routines and will also be joined on stage by Showcase the Street’s award winning dance company as well as some of the guitar students who use the project which is based at 17 Lindsay Street in Arbroath.
The Arbroath project now attracts about 300 young people and has a variety of dance styles and tutors on offer.
Tickets for the show can be purchased from the Webster Theatre box office priced at £9 for adults and £7 for concessions with all proceeds going back to the work of the charity.
The charity’s chairman Fergus Storrier spoke about the importance of the projects work. He said: “We have a good presence in Arbroath with a great facility on offer with a superb dance studio and music room.
“In addition we have started to pilot pre-school sports courses for youngsters and we also support projects in local schools via active schools dance clubs, many of which are run by young volunteers, as well as wider projects which support youngsters who are not engaging with education.
“In the main, though, our work is all about the weekly classes and the show is a great chance for all those people to demonstrate what they have learned and the skills they have developed.”
He concluded: “Winning the Angus Ambassador Award late last year was a great thing for Showcase so anyone who hasn’t bought a ticket yet should pop along to the theatre and see what great talent there is locally.”
