Organisers of Arbroath’s ninth outdoor fundraising extravaganza for Cancer Research UK have secured a major sponsorship deal.

For the second year in a row, the Townhouse Hotel - situated in the heart of the town - has been revealed as the Arbroath Relay For Life Main Sponsor for 2015.

Graeme Gersok, publican at the Townhouse Hotel, said: “We are delighted to provide backing for Relay for Life again this year.

“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer and our community has been hit as hard as any other by that horrible disease.

‘‘We at the Townhouse Hotel are happy to do as much as we can to support a wonderful event and, at the same time, help to raise vital funds for cancer research.

“It is true that it’s only once you have experienced a Relay for Life event that you truly understand what a fantastic event it is.

“We all had such a great time at Relay last year and can’t wait for this year’s event.”

Commenting on the agreement Ian Angus, Relay chair, said: “The very generous support we are receiving from the Townhouse Hotel will go a long way ensuring that we have another great Relay year.

“We look forward to working with the Townhouse Hotel over the coming months to help beat cancer sooner.

“The people of Arbroath, along with local businesses, have been very generous in their support for Relay for Life over the years and this partnership is another example of that generosity.

“The committee is working hard to ensure that Arbroath continues to play its part in securing essential funding for cancer research.”

Cancer Research UK’s Relay For Life is a unique celebration of life and hope which unites communities to help beat cancer and culminates in a fantastic family and team event.

Relay For Life provides the opportunity for everyone involved to remember those lost and ultimately to celebrate life, in an effort to raise as much money as possible to beat cancer.

Thanks to Cancer Research UK’s work, more people are surviving cancer than ever before.

Survival rates have doubled over the last 40 years and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.
