Despite the wind of change blowing through Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild Committee it’s still all systems go for forthcoming fundraisers.

Remember the Sea Fest dates for your diary, August 15 and 16, a little later this year, but the Lifeboat crew advise that it is all to do with the times and state of the tides, so we can all look forward to seeing the launch of the Inchcape Lifeboat at approximately 3pm as usual.

The guild will be in good form spreading the jam and whipping the cream for the famous cream teas, the price has been pegged at £2 for a cream tea and £1 for juice and biscuits for youngsters. So make sure that you leave plenty of room after lunch for one of these delicacies, all served with the usual chat and banter from the hard working ladies of the guild.

Another date for the diary is September 30, yes a bit away but plenty of time to organise round this event. After the last extremely successful ‘Dress to Impress’ fashion show by Karen B, she has agreed to put on another show highlighting numerous sensational outfits from the autumnal and winter range of clothing.

The annual Arbroath Flag Week collection keeps building year upon year and the amount raised - including the bag pack at Morrisons Supermarket - did not disappoint, raising an amazing £5246.23.

Guild president Barbara Cargill said: “It is really amazing how generous the people of Arbroath and district are when it comes to donating to our Lifeboat and its crew. A big thank you to one and all who made these fundraising events so successful.”

The meeting on Monday night saw the resignation of Maureen Fulton who has served the committee very well over the past seven years as secretary, after taking her last minute of the meeting she will retire from the post but will still be part of the Guild.

Barbara Cargill, president also intimated that she would be standing down at the next annual general meeting in May, but will also be continuing as another extremely valued member of the guild.
