Around 50 Scouts competed for the annual Silver Axe (Alastair Fairweather Trophy) competition at Firhills farm by Letham Grange.

The event, on Sunday, was themed around a fictitious country called Brothockstan which was riddled with spies, insurgents and special agents determined to destabilise the local currency.

Teams of four had to orienteer over a wide area and visit bases where various challenges were set and were rewarded with the local currency, the ‘Lichtie’.

At the close of the competition they had to escape from the country by negotiating an assault course in the shortest time.
