The kind-hearted team at an Arbroath salon have raised £1000 for a breast cancer charity.
As October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, staff at the Eden Hair and Beauty beauty decided to raise funds by organising a ladies’ pamper evening where customers were given various beauty treatments, with all the proceeds going to Breast Friends.
The evening was a success and raised £778 for the charity.
Two massage therapists at the salon, Sacha Bledowski and Fiona Norval, donated 10 per cent of their massages from October to Breast Friends, which amounted to £222.
Sacha specialises in Tranquil Sea Hydrotherm Massage, which is a treatment for people with cancer.
Fiona said: “There is a myth that people with cancer can’t have a massage and we wanted to promote that that isn’t the case.
“If it is done by a specialist therapist then people with cancer can have a massage.”
She added that the salon hopes to make the pamper evening an annual event with the possibility of raising funds for a different charity each year.
Sacha and Fiona handed the £1000 over to Val Mowatt of Breast Friends.
On behalf of Breast Friends Val said that they charity was “so grateful for the hard work and support by all the girls at Eden Hair and Beauty”.
The team at Eden Hair and Beauty also held a coffee morning and offered massages in September in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, which raised £250 for the charity.
