Round Table go global on overseas trips

THREE Arbroath Round Tablers are set to travel to opposite ends of the world this weekend on self funded trips.

Brian Cargill will travel to America where he will reconnect with friends he made through a world conference in Costa Rica back in 2005.

He said: “I was lucky enough to receive the honour of going to represent the Round Table at an event of service groups from around the world.

“I was fortunate to meet some fantastic people from around the world but in particular America, and we formed a sister club arrangement with the Active 20-30 club in Eugene, Oregon and our clubs keep in contact on a regular basis.”

Meanwhile current vice-chairman Jamie Buchan and fellow Tabler Bob Dickson get ready to jet off to Hyderabad in India for the Round Table International World Conference tomorrow (Saturday).

Bob, an experienced traveller with Round Table, said: “We have the pleasure and honour of flying the Scottish flag at the conference in Hyderabad as the two Scottish delegates making up a 16 strong UK contingent.”

And Jamie added: “I joined Arbroath Round Table less than a year ago and here I am going to India to a world conference. I cannot wait to attend the various workshops as well as the cultural exchange which culminates on nations night and that happens to be my 35th birthday so that will be amazing.”
