AN ARBROATH butchers have conjured up a real scary treat just in time for Halloween.
D.H. Robertson of Fisheracre have been working at their cauldron and produced special witches brew and toffee apple sausage.
And the unusual flavours have proved so popular, they were awarded silver awards at a recent event held by the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association.
The event was set up to challenge butchers into giving their products a Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night theme.
The team from Robertson, led by Steven Bennett attended a product evaluation at the end of August at Dunfermline Athletic Football Club.
And last Wednesday they then travelled to Perth to receive their silver award from John Gallagher of the event sponsors McDonnells (Queen Street) Ltd.
John said: “It was really good to see all the scary products and lots of great product ideas came forward.
“I think we can look forward to seeing some real innovation in butchers’ shops this Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night.
“Ogre’s Eyes in Swamp Sauce was the best product in the Hallowe’en category and Catherine Wheels, sausages on sticks, was the best Bonfire Night product.”
