ARBROATH couple Robert and Ruby Russell celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday.
The pair were married in Inverbrothock Church on March 3, 1951, after meeting when they both worked in shops in Keptie Street.
They visited Edinburgh on their honeymoon and by chance were staying at the same place as the Covent Garden Opera company and were entertained by them for their time there.
After marrying they lived in Sydney Street before moving to Leonard Street.
Mr Russell was a butcher by trade and owned his own shop in Fisheracre after spending time in the RAF, while Mrs Russell worked for Braemar knitwear.
They have two children, a son also called Robert and a daughter Gail Cargill. They also have four grandchildren, Nicola, Mark, Siobhan and Fergus.
The couple celebrated their special anniversary with a party for family and friends at Smithies in the West Port on Saturday night.
