Arbroath lifeboats responded to a call last night (Thursday) to help in the search for a missing person in the area.

A request for assistance was received from HM Coastguard at approximately 12.40am and the all-weather lifeboat RNLB Inchcape and inshore lifeboat Robert Fergusson were quickly launched.

In darkness and moderate sea conditions, the lifeboat search covered an area along the coastline of the town between the harbour and Deil’s Heed area of the towns cliffs.

After approximately one hour of searching the volunteer RNLI crews were stood down after it was confirmed the person had been found in another location.
