Members of Arbroath Town Centre Retailers’ Association donned dungarees again on Monday to continue their clean-up campaign.

A party of six worked the area on the pedestrian precinct outside the empty D2 and Hydro Electric shops.

Chairman Chic Grant explained: “Jamie Buchan of Specsavers had contacted the owners of the former D2 Jeans shop and they sent workmen to clear out the shop and give it a general tidy up.

“We scrubbed the flags and the benches on the precinct to get rid of the gull mess and accumulated dirt.”

Mr Grant promised that the clean-up campaign will continue. However, the retailers are looking for the loan of portable power washers, such as those used by the people who clean wheelie bins.

He explained: “We do not have access to electricity or water, so the washers must be self-sufficient.

“It would be wonderful if Angus Council could provide some material assistance. If they could provide the equipment, we could provide the manpower.”
