An excellent evening of music was performed by the Angus Strathspey and Reel Society at the Webster Memorial Theatre on Saturday.
The orchestra was led by Lindsay Downie and energetically conducted by Kathryn Smeaton, her inaugural venture as conductor. A good variety of vibrant tunes delighted the audience throughout the evening and their slow airs were beautifully executed with sympathetic harmonies. Joe Aitken and Geordie Murison compered the evening interspersed with their unique style of Bothy Ballads, stories and verse. Claire Telford on fiddle and accordionist Wayne Robertson topped the bill and had the audience totally enthralled. Congratulations to the orchestra for this superb evening.
