Real drama in one act festival

A Carnoustie group emerged victorious at an annual community drama festival in Arbroath at the weekend.

The Carnoustie Theatre Club Youth section won the Angus round of the Scottish Community Drama Association Festival of one act plays held in the Webster Memorial Theatre on Saturday night.

Their production of ‘This Is The Real Me’ won the overall festival, best youth play and best stage presentation.

The cast performed an original play written and produced by club members Susan Crabb and Audrey Doherty.

The night turned out to be a double success, with Carnoustie Theatre Club Adults also qualifying for the next district round of adult plays, with their performance of ‘Porch’ by Jack Heifner, sensitively directed by Dick Gibson.

Carnoustie Youth now move forward to represent Angus in the next round of the Youth Festival, which takes place takes place in Orkney on March 14.
