Two reckless kayakers took to the stormy water in Arbroath in treacherous conditions much to the horror of onlookers.
Arbroath’s RNLI rushed to the rescue just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday after a member of the public raised the alarm.
Bystander Kirsty McLachlan said: “We were there and one guy fell off and was floating in the water with nothing for a while. Eventually he climbed a pole and clung onto that.”
Public outrage rose online at the potential dangerous for all involved. David Moe Morris said: “Silly. Waste of charity money and the time of the RNLI volunteers. I’m all for people doing what they want but look at tidal conditions and forecast before enduring in activities.”
