The widow of a well-known Arbroath figure has organised a swathe of charity events in his memory.

Mrs Jennifer Speirs, wife of the late Dr Richard Speirs, is raising money and awareness for Brain Tumour Research, with the help of Christina Spink and their friends.

On Saturday, November 29, there will be a coffee morning in the Old and Abbey Church from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. There will be a large tombola, raffle, silent auction, home baking, paintings, Christmas cards and gifts.

Mrs Speirs said: “This is just one of the many fund-raising events that are taking place and will be added to the total in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

“In April 2015 there will be a car boot sale and on May 23, 2015, there is to be a Proms Concert performed by the Friends group in the Webster Theatre produced by James Hutcheson and Richard Allan.

“The above fundraising events have all been made possible by the generosity, enthusiasm and commitment of family, friends and colleagues of my late husband Richard. I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support that I have received to enable me to give so much to Brain Tumour Research.”
