Raffle collection rockets along

A huge raffle next week could be the vital spark to set this year’s fireworks display fundraising campaign alight.

A serious drive has been under way in recent weeks to put together what could be one of the biggest fundraising raffles in a long time as dozens of Arbroath businesses have come forward to support the Fireworks for Arbroath 2016 campaign.

At the time of going to press more than 60 prizes had been donated, ranging from jewellery to meal vouchers, makeovers to vouchers for trays of local strawberries.

Raffle tickets are £1 each and come in books of five. They are available from Fireworks for Arbroath 2016 committee members, via the group’s Facebook page or at various events over the summer.

Committee chair Karren Cuthill said: “We would like to thank all of the businesses and organisations in and around Arbroath who have been so generous with their donations of raffle prizes.

“We really appreciate it all. If anyone would still like to donate a prize please contact us on Facebook.

“The raffle will be drawn in November but, in the meantime, there will be plenty of fundraising events for you to get involved in.”

There will be a quiz night in the Royal British Legion Scotland clubrooms in Helen Street, starting at 7.30pm on Saturday, July 2. Entry is £10 for a team of four.

They will also be raising funds at the Cairnie car boot sale on Sunday, July 3, so come along and show your support.

Fundraising is going well for this year’s display, and with every penny raised going into the pot for fireworks, the more people donate and pitch in with fundraisers, the better the show will be!
