RADIO North Angus (RNA), is hoping to recruit a football commentator for the independent local radio and hospital broadcasting service.

RNA maintains a high level of live, localised programming, with an audience in excess of the average for commercial radio.

It is seeking a volunteer to provide football commentaries on the home games of Arbroath FC. The involvement would be to attend home games at Gayfield Park, which are usually held on a fortnightly basis, between 3 and 4.45 p.m. from August to May.

No previous experience is necessary, but candidates should possess a good knowledge of football and, in particular, Arbroath FC. Full training will be provided, along with accommodation in a purpose-built commentary box, and free access to all games.

It is considered that the vacancy may be of particular interest to Arbroath FC fans, or to those who wish to make sports broadcasting a profession. A number of previous presenters have gained career positions in the broadcasting industry.

While maintaining a voluntary status, Radio North Angus is a limited company operating the independent commercial local radio in Arbroath, with radio stations in Montrose Infirmary and Stracathro Hospital, and transmitters in Arbroath on 96.6 FM, and Montrose and Brechin Infirmaries, Stracathro Hospital, and Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre, Forfar, on 87.7 FM, complemented by digital broadcasts throughout Tayside, and streaming at www.radionorthangus.co.uk

Regular services are conducted at Brechin Infirmary, and Little Cairnie Hospital, Arbroath. RNA was awarded an independent local radio FM licence in July, 1998, and the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2007, with the remit to provide a wide-ranging service for 24 hours per day.

The organisation operates an ‘open door’ policy for recruitment, and prospective volunteers for this, and music programming, should contact Malcolm J.B. Finlayson, managing director, Radio North Angus Ltd., 11 Bankhead Crescent, Arbroath, Angus, DD11 2DP, ‘phone 01241 871446 or e-mail info@radionorthangus.co.uk
