Bus consultation begins ahead of contract changes

BUS USERS in the county are being consulted on the current level of service and on potential changes as bus contracts with Angus Council are set to be renewed.

A large number of local services operated under contract to Angus Council are due for renewal in the late spring of 2013. These services currently operate with financial support from the council in order to maintain vital public transport links.

Preparations for the contract renewals are already under way with a number of on-bus surveys recently conducted to examine the travel patterns of existing bus users and seek their views on the current services.

As part of the contract renewal process, the wider community is now being consulted to reveal any unmet travel demands and identify requests for changes to the current service provision. The exercise will also tailor services to local residents’ need, as well as ensure best value for money.

The local bus services on which the council is consulting are the A210, A211 and A213, 47 & 47B Ferryden-Montrose–Hillside, Monday to Friday peak and off peak journeys.

Anyone wishing to make comments can do so by using the ‘Have Your Say’ section of Angus Council’s website at www.angus.gov.uk, by e-mailing PLNTransport@angus.gov.uk, writing to Transport Team, Infrastructures Services, County Buildings, Market Street, Forfar DD8 3LG or by telephoning 01307 461775 between 8.45am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Comments and suggestions should be submitted no later than Friday, August 3, for consideration prior to issuing tenders to bus operators in mid-September.
