TAYSIDE Police is urging the public to be aware that, following a brief respite today (Saturday), the rain is set to return to parts Scotland in abundance on Sunday, along with strong winds.
The Met Office has issued a Yellow Warning for rain on Sunday (May 13), with a low pressure system passing to the north of Scotland bringing wet and windy weather from the northwest during the early hours to eventually affect all parts.
It is expected that the wet and windy weather will reach parts of Tayside, with gale force south westerly winds potentially gusting at speeds of 60mph on the hills.
Mindful that there are likely to be numerous outdoor events, not least the annual Etape Caledonia cycling event in Highland Perthshire, Tayside Police is asking people to be prepared. The Etape Caledonia event attracts well over 5,000 participants to compete over an 81-mile road course. The first riders set off at 6.30 a.m.
For weather and traffic information, members of the public should refer to TV, radio and websites, as well the Met Office alert area on its website http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
