Police Scotland and Arbroath lifeboats mustered after concerns were raised for a man at the Arbroath cliffs late on Saturday evening.
A call for lifeboat assistance went out at midnight with the all-weather lifeboat and inshore lifeboat launching shortly after. Alex Smith, lifeboat operations manager, reflected on the commitment required of lifeboat crews: “For volunteer crews dropping everything to respond to a shout is something that comes as second nature. Some of the crew had been enjoying a Christmas meal when the request was received. Both lifeboats were launched to provide support in what was an ongoing incident, but thankfully the matter was brought to a close without any casualties.”
Police Scotland said: “The man was traced and suitable arrangements were made for his care.”
