There is a great line-up of diverse entertainment for everyone at the Webster Memorial Theatre, Arbroath for the start of 2014.

On Saturday, January 18 members of Angus Tayside Young Farmers will hold their annual cabaret competition.

The teams taking part will be Brechin YFC, Forfar JAC and Strathmore JAC in their productions in an evening of tense competition complemented by supporting acts.

Showcasing local talent, this will be a fun-filled evening of music, dance and humour not to be missed.

Arbroath Musical Society takes to the stage from Tuesday, February 11 to Saturday, February 15 for their production of ‘Annie’.

‘Annie’ is arguably the most performed musical in the world. It has become a favourite of schools and amateur dramatics groups due to its rags-to-riches plot and memorable songs. Now the society brings this well-loved show to Arbroath for the first time.

The Limelight Company will tread the boards with ‘Les Misérables’ from Wednesday, February 19 to Saturday, February 22.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, ‘Les Misérables’ tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption.

Featuring the songs ‘I Dreamed A Dream’, ‘Bring Him Home’, ‘One Day More’ and ‘On My Own’, ‘Les Misérables’ is the show of shows.

There will be drama galore on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1 for the Angus District heat of the annual national one-act play competition, organised by the Scottish Community Drama Association.

Local drama clubs perform short plays with public comments and judging by Colin Peter from Edinburgh. The Angus winners go through to the next round of the competition.

The entertainment continues on Monday, March 3 with The Irish House Party! Dublin’s No’1 award-winning music and dance show offers the warmest of welcomes to the finest house party in town.
