THE STATION Bar in Arbroath held a pie competition with a difference in a bid to boost funds for this year’s community fireworks display.

Customers paid to sample pies developed by three different bakers and ‘chef’ Steven Cook decided which one was the best.

The winning entry was made by Paul Cook who combined both Lorne sausage and steak in pastry.

Runner-up was Colin Smart, followed by John Galloway and then Councillor David Fairweather.

The event raised £60 to add to the fund, which currently stands at £7,000, the most that has ever been raised, meaning the display will be one of the biggest the town has ever seen.
