It may be less than a handful of weeks since Arbroath’s fireworks display was reborn, but the team behind it are nearly halfway to next year’s target.
And not only have the Fireworks For Arbroath committee managed to raise more than £4000 in donations since the display on November 7, but they have also secured the services of 21CC the pyrotechnics firm behind this year’s show.
Between six and seven thousand people flocked to the spectacle at Inchcape Park for the display which lasted over 20 minutes and attracted ‘oohs and aahs’ aplenty.
Karren Cuthill, chair of Fireworks For Arbroath, explained that the great success of this year’s event had paved the way for getting 21CC back to Arbroath in 2016. She said: “21CC have against the odds, because of the great success we had this year, allowed us one of only two slots left for Saturday, November 5, 2016. They are contracted out for 50-55 shows already for that night. We are incredibly lucky to have been given this opportunity.
“On behalf of the committee I would just like to say a huge thank you to the people of Arbroath. You helped us make the display a huge success.
“We have around £6000 left to raise for next year and we hope that the community will continue to give us such fantastic support which will hopefully make the 2016 display as good, if not better than this year.”
Fundraising will begin again in earnest in the New Year, for more details of the Fireworks For Arbroath 2016 campaign find them on Facebook.
