TO MARK the start of National Volunteering Week, NHS Tayside today (Monday) launched a new website which will make it easier for Taysiders to volunteer.
NHS Tayside has a long tradition of volunteering and currently has the highest levels of volunteers amongst health boards in Scotland, with almost 1,000 citizens giving their time and energy freely to the NHS. In 2010 the organisation successfully achieved the Investing in Volunteers Award.
Members of the public can visit the new webpage on the NHS Tayside website at www.nhstayside.scot.nhs.uk under Getting Involved – Volunteer Services.
This site will support the ongoing recruitment of volunteers and provide information on local NHS volunteering opportunities for both NHS staff and people in the local communities.
NHS Tayside chairman Sandy Watson, who also chairs the national group on volunteering in the NHS, said: “I am extremely impressed by the scale of volunteering at NHS Tayside.
“Our volunteers bring their experience, skills and a different perspective which helps us continuously improve and sustain high quality inpatient care and engage better with our community.
“There are many stories from volunteers that demonstrate that volunteers, patients and staff benefit hugely from their experience and input to patient services.”
