Angus Choral Society resume rehearsals for their new season next week in Forfar.
The first session of the 2014/15 term will commence at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, September 5, in Forfar East and Old Church, Chapel Street, Forfar.
Their Christmas Concert will take place at 7.30 p.m., Saturday, December 6, in the Lowson Memorial Church, Forfar. The programme will feature: Elgar’s eight part setting of the ‘Lux Aeterna’; Gabrielli’s ‘O Magnum Mysterium’; Pergolisi’s ‘Magnificat’; two choruses from Bach’s ‘Christmas Oratorio’, ‘Christians be Joyful’ and ‘Glory to God in the Highest’ and one chorale, ‘Break Forth O Beauteous Heavenly Light’; John Taverner’s ‘The Lamb’; Philip Stopford’s ‘Lully, Lulla, Lully’ and ‘Xmas Blessing’; ‘Shepherd’s Farewell’ by Berlioz, as well as the usual selection of carols for choir and audience. Angus Choral Society offers a diverse programme with something for everyone and warmly invite the music-loving public to come and support them. Their Spring 2015 Concert will be held in St John’s Episcopal Church, Forfar, on Saturday April 25, when they will perform Mozart’s ‘Requiem’ and Dvorak’s ‘Mass in D’, both works accompanied by organ and they are delighted to welcome back Graeme Stevenson as organist. The society is looking for new members in all parts, there is no audition and new faces are guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome as well as a great time singing.
