The long derelict Viewfield Hotel is soon to get a new lease of life under the guise of modern apartments designed by local architects.
Located in the grounds of the former popular hotel, Voigt Partnership have proposed a build of 20 energy-efficient apartments designed in and around the existing hotel building, which will be stripped back to its original form.
The majority of the flats are to be two-bedroom, but there are also three bedroom apartments available.
The design style and layout are based on the successful flats in Alexandra Place built by Moir Construction, all six of which sold off-plan before they were finished.
Voight Partnership architect Jonathan Reeve said: “Planning has been recommended for approval following a Section 75 legal agreement which is expected through very soon.
“A demolition warrant has been approved and some minor works have commenced on site taking down some outbuildings and making the site safe and secure for the main construction works.”
The new two-storey blocks will align with the existing building while a three-storey block will be placed at the corner junction of Arbirlot and Viewfield roads tying in with the urban surrounds.
The result is a contemporary development that will complement its surroundings and feel more like smaller individual homes.
