ANGUS Council is to launch an initiative drawing together help and support for the county’s veterans.
The Veterans First Partnership will identify and co-ordinate the services available to veterans in a one-stop paper and online information resource.
It will be launched in spring of next year.
The new partnership will work alongside the Firmbase group which has been established as a cross-forces group within Tayside to support collaborations with local authorities and their partners and provide a joined-up approach to helping veterans.
The council previously appointed a Veterans’ Champion, former serviceman councillor Peter Nield, to champion the needs of veterans and support the relationship between the council and the British military.
Vice-convener of neighbourhood services, councillor Colin Brown said: “We want to continue our tradition of partnership with the UK’s military services by giving real direction to our support for veterans and making access to services easier and more co-ordinated than at present.”
