Balhousie Care Group has appointed Keri Garland as the new manager of its Antiquary care home in Arbroath.
Keri joins Balhousie Antiquary from Barchester’s South Grange care home in Monifieth, where she was clinical/deputy manager and headed up the elderly frail unit.
She trained at the University of Dundee and worked for NHS Tayside before moving in 2000 to New Zealand, where she met her husband.
After returning to Scotland, Keri joined Barchester as head of unit at South Grange, where she was involved in developing a neurological rehabilitation unit caring for clients with acquired brain injuries and supporting them back into independent living.
Keri said: “When I first visited Antiquary I thought it had a great atmosphere and a very welcoming group of staff. One of my first priorities is involving residents, relatives and visitors in making changes and enhancing the service provided in the home.
“A lot of work has already gone into our dementia unit and we are working closely with the dementia liaison team to develop our service and ensure best practice, with the help of feedback from relatives and visitors.”
Away from work, Keri enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters Eva (4) and Ruby (2).
