PUPILS and staff at Muirfield Primary School had special cause for celebration last Friday when they raised their Green Eco Flag for the very first time.

The Green Flag is awarded to schools who are eco friendly, and do their bit to take forward issues such as recycling, litter picking, energy saving and waste reduction.

The Eco Council played a key part in ensuring Muirfield achieved this sought after flag.

Deputy headteacher Mrs Margaret McBride said: “It is such a proud moment for the whole school to be raising the green flag today.

“We are absolutely delighted that our efforts to be an eco friendly health promoting school have been rewarded. This is a very special day for all pupils and staff.”
