Alison McInnes, Scottish Liberal Democrat MSP, has received her OBE insignia from the Queen at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Mrs McInnes was made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s birthday honours list in June for her services to the public and politics.
After receiving the decoration from the Queen, Mrs McInnes commented: “I was delighted to be made an OBE and it is an honour to come to Buckingham Palace to collect the medal.
“I have really appreciated all the kind comments I have received since the Queen’s birthday honours list was announced.
“Of course, I owe a great deal to the people of the North East who have elected me to represent them over the last 21 years.
“It has been a real privilege to be able to help my constituents and stand up for the North East, first as a councillor and, since 2007, as a member of the Scottish Parliament.”
