AN ARBROATH housewife has won a car on a online bingo website, despite not being able to drive!
May McGuigan became the first bingo player in Scotland to win a car on the William Hill site after spending just £20 and she received the vehicle at the shop in the High Street on Thursday.
May said: “I got the shock of my life when they phoned up telling me I’d won the car.
“I had no idea I had won anything, but they’re giving away a car a day all this month and it was just my lucky day.
“About four or five years ago I had a bit of luck on Sun bingo and won £4,500, but a car worth £6,000 beats that.”
William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny was delighted to inform May of her win but was also shocked that she won’t be able to enjoy her prize.
He added: “It was a marvellous moment telling May she’d won the car when she had absolutely no idea.
“But she then told me she doesn’t drive and that her husband Geoffrey would have to drive it home.”
May was presented with her car in the High Street by William Hill district operations manager Willie Black.
Looking on are Kim Robertson, May’s daughter and Gail McNairn, shop manager.
