Matthew and Chloe are the most popular names in 2010

MATTHEW and Chloe have come out on top as the most popular baby names being registered in Arbroath in 2010.

New parents in the town and in Carnoustie bucked the national trend and the Angus wide trend of Jack and Sophie being the most popular names in favour of Matthew and Chloe.

The two names also overtake Alfie and Ava, which were most popular in Arbroath and Carnoustie in 2009.

However, staff at the Arbroath Registrar’s Office say there weren’t any unusual names this year, with new parents tending to stick with more traditional choices.
