Both of Arbroath’s RNLI lifeboats were launched twice over the weekend with a rising tide and thick fog causing problems for those at sea.
On Saturday afternoon a request was received from HM Coastguard at 4.15 p.m. to assist three people who had been cut off by the tide close to Auchmithie.
Both the all-weather boat RNLB Bingo Lifeline and inshore lifeboat Robert Fergusson were launched immediately.
Upon arriving at the scene the three people were taken aboard the inshore lifeboat and transferred back to land at Auchmithie.
Then just before 5.30 p.m. on Sunday the volunteer RNLI crew were called upon again when a yacht became fog bound.
Both lifeboats were launched and escorted the vessel safely back to Arbroath harbour.
