This year’s ToonFest is shaping up to be another fund-raising spectacular with something for everyone, including the drinks!
Organised by Arbroath Round Table the ToonFest has a dual purpose of creating a fun-filled evening that’s a little out of the ordinary and at the same time do some good in the community, and will be held on Saturday, May 17, in the Arbroath Community Centre.
This year the organisers have secured nine lagers from eight different countries, with offerings from as far afield as Brazil, Estonia, Barbados and even Corsica.
Jamie Buchan said: “The thing with ToonFest LagerFest is that it’s not the kind of lagers you can buy on supermarket shelves, you have got to go to the far flung corners of the earth for these.
“It’s about the diversity and different types of lager, not just the run of the mill lagers you might have on a night out.”
The daytime leg of the ToonFest has more than just exotic lager to offer, the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between St Johnstone and Dundee United at McDiarmid Park will also be shown, along with some pre-match tunes from The Bygones.
Jamie said: “This year we’ve happened to coincide with the Scottish Cup final so we’ve created a football village.
“We have the game playing live on a phenomenally large screen which is taking up half of one wall in the Community Centre.
“It will have cinema sound so it’s going to be as good as you get without being in the stadium itself.”
The evening action features music from The Declaration Band, Smokehouse and table magic from well-known trickster Michael Brandie.
