Arbroath Round Table strengthened their links with local sports clubs last week by presenting a new trophy to Arbroath Artisan Golf Club.

Having previously supported the Juniors with medals for their prizegiving ceremony last year, Arbroath Tablers wanted to do more and give a new trophy to the club for the Junior golfers to contest each year.

And the group handed over the new trophy to the club’s junior captain last week. Working with Elaine Shepherd, junior convener for the club, Arbroath Tablers identified that there was the possibility to support a Junior Stableford competition and a suitable cup was purchased and engraved.

Arbroath Round Table Chairman, Jamie Buchan said: “As always, we are keen to support local clubs and endevours - especially of junior teams, squads and individuals.

“Furthering the sporting support we provide to the clubs in the town, we are delighted to have provided a long term gift to Arbroath Artisan Golf Club by way of this Stableford trophy.”

Blair Scott, last year’s junior captain of Arbroath Artisan Golf Club was on hand to collect the trophy from the Tablers.

And he too was grateful for the new award.

He added: “The junior golfers are keen to get playing for this new trophy and thanks go to Arbroath Round Table for their further support.

“We are always grateful for any donations we receive from organisations or businesses to help with the running of the juniors section.
