A group of pupils from Arbroath Academy will be saying ‘bonjour’ to Paris thanks to an Arbroath Round Table donation.
The 18 fourth year pupils are leaving for the French capital next month where they will enjoy a three day language and cultural programme after fund-raising for the trip.
Approaching the Round Table, the students were seeking assistance to help reduce the cost to attend the educational trip to immerse themselves in the French language.
Round Table chairman Jamie Buchan said: “After a Round Table business meeting in December, we agreed to support this request with a donation of £10 per student.
“We’re always keen to see requests for support where there is an educational and enriching experience involved. I personally had the benefit of living in Spain for three months as a teenager and fully understand the benefit exposure to a language in its home environment can do to accelerate your language skills.”
A spokesperson for Arbroath Academy said: “Arbroath Round Table have been the largest contributors to the Paris trip and we thank them most sincerely along with other organisations and businesses who offered support.”
