A young Arbroath girl is over the moon after an article in the Arbroath Herald helped her get back in the saddle.
Last week we told the story of 10-year-old Sophie Gowans who was unfortunate enough to be targeted twice by bike thieves and now an anonymous donor has put a smile on her face.
Mum Shona took up the story: “About 12ish on Friday I went on Facebook and a total stranger had messaged me and said he had a bike going spare if we wanted it.
“He said he had seen our story in the paper and just wanted to make Sophie happy again.”
The family is keen to thank the person who had gone out of their way to contact them and make the generous gift.
Shona added: “She’s over the moon. What with it being a bank holiday weekend she’s been out the whole time on her bike. She was getting stuck inside while her sisters were out on their bikes so she’s having a great time.”
As yet there is still no sign of the first two bikes stolen; a pink Vivid Apollo mountain bike and a bronze coloured mountain bike.
Anyone with any information on their whereabouts should contact Police Scotland on 101.
