The sun has certainly been shining over the coffers of the RNLI in Arbroath and any crowds have definitely had silver linings.
The ladies of the Arbroath Lifeboat Guild had an excellent Flag Week at the end of June, collecting £3,394.40.
A spokesperson for the guild said: “One of the collectors said it was great seeing everyone in their summer clothes instead of shivering in winter woollies in the summer.
“The general feeling of well-being and generosity continued throughout the bag pack at Morrisons Supermarket at the start of July, with an amazing £931.81 collected in just six hours from the generous customers.”
Guild president Barbara Cargill added: “I would like to thank all the guild members and friends for their hard work during these fund raising activities and of course all the staff in the stores which participated in both of these events.”
It will be all hands on deck for the grand Cream Tea Celebrations at the Sea Fest during the weekend of the August 9 and 10.
Their ever popular homebaked scones and jam, washed down with lashings of fresh tea are sure to be a great draw, along with the ladies’ gentle banter and the cream teas are often the venue for chance reunions.
The Arbroath Ladies’ Lifeboat Guild will finalise details for the cream tea at their next meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28, in the Sea Cadet Hall. East Abbey Street.
The RNLI Shop at the Lifeboat Shed is open 2 to 4 p.m. daily, and will be open continually throughout the Sea fest weekend.
