Local politicians have urged people to go green this January and donate their old Christmas cards to be recycled.
Angus MP Mike Weir and Angus South MSP Graeme Dey visited Morrisons in Arbroath on Saturday to hand over their cards to a recycling scheme, which is being run by the Salvation Army.
And as well as taking their cards along, the pair took the opportunity to voice support for the popular initiative.
Mr Weir said: “It is always nice to receive so many cards at Christmas, but it is important that rather than discard them once the festive season is over we recycle them. The scheme is not only environmentally sound but also raises funds for the charity.”
While Mr Dey added: “Full marks to Morrisons for once against hosting the recycling which I’m sure will prove as popular as it has in past years.
“Angus folk are increasingly aware of the need to recycle and be environmentally responsible and I’d encourage everyone with cards to dispose of to get along to the store over the next couple of weeks.”
Anybody wanting to recycle their Christmas cards can take them along to Morrisons and drop them in the recycling point in the foyer.
