The first meeting of the 2014 Relay for Life committee took place last Wednesday as organisers look towards next year’s event.

And already they have announced the fancy dress theme as, ‘Dress up the Decades’.

The meeting at Arbroath United Cricket Club was the first in charge for new chair Ian Angus, who has taken over from Alana Loudon.

And he is ready to get down to hard work to ensure as much money as possible will be raised for Cancer Research UK.

He said: “After considering various suggestions, it has been agreed that the theme for next year will be Dress up the Decades. It is a theme that gives teams plenty of scope to decide what best reflects their favourite decade.

“There are several new faces on the committee for 2014 already working alongside existing members to ensure that we deliver another successful Relay.

“I am honoured to be taking over the chair from Alana Loudon. We will work hard to build on her legacy.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the various committee members over the years who have all played their part in ensuring that Arbroath and district plays its part in raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK.”

Registration for Relay for Life is now open. To join visit the Cancer Research UK wesbite or contact Ian on 07928 521030 or email ianangus56@gmail.com.
