Every year Arbroath Round Table (ART), with the support of Arbroath Football Club, treat some of our local senior citizens to a match day out at Gayfield.

Last Saturday local pensioners watched Arbroath give themselves a glimmer of hope of surviving relegation from the SPFL League One by beating Stranraer 4-2 at home.

ART chairman Jamie Buchan said: “Pensioner match-day is one of my favourite days of the Table year. It’s always good banter on the day and we give our pensioners a good day out. Our thanks go to chairman John Christison and Arbroath Football Club for their hospitality and this is an initiative that has been going now for a number of years.”

Arbroath Round Table host a number of events for senior citizens in the area every year, with games nights and the ever-popular Tablers Tea Party amongst other initiatives.

The senior citizens’ programme that ART puts on every year was a shortlisted finalist in 2013 for the national Round Table Community Programme awards.
