Angus Council is beginning the process to establish a community council for the Royal Burgh of Arbroath and District.
The notice of election was published on Monday and candidates have until 4 p.m. on Monday, January 27 to submit their nominations and personal statements.
Candidates are able to withdraw their nomination up to 4 p.m. on Monday, February 3.
A spokesperson for Angus Council said: “If there are sufficient candidates to fill the 20 vacancies on the community council, there will be no contest and all candidates will be elected to serve.
“If there are more candidates than vacancies a poll will be held the week commencing Monday, February 24 and the count and declaration of results will take place later that week.”
