Businessman Derek Wann, the Angus Scottish Conservatives candidate for Westminster, went to visit new shop Cherished Bride in Arbroath as part of a new competition called ‘Your Favourite Local Retailer’.
Mr Wann will be visiting other local independent retailers throughout Angus in the coming weeks.
Customers will be able to vote for their favourite and the business with most votes will win £100.
Mr Wann said: “Having read in my local paper about a new business opening up in Arbroath, I went to visit Jenny Traill and Nikki Bews at Cherished Bride.
“Jenny told me, ‘Opening up The Cherished Bride in Arbroath has been a scary process, especially at this time when so many shops in the town have had to shut down. We truly believe in our business and that it will be great for the town, so we just had to go for it.
“Already we have many customers from here to Aberdeen and all the in between little places! Our shop concept seems to be intriguing to many and with the warm welcome and relaxed Wedding dress trying on experience, customers are already spreading the word for us. We definitely see our shop being a success.”
Mr. Wann added: “I want to encourage small independent retailers throughout
“Angus and highlight the importance of these type of business’s to our town centres and high streets, long gone are the days when larger retailers will be present on our streets, and we must ensure local retailers survive and thrive.”
